In Search of Lost Scroll

A new interactive work of digital performance art for your browser.

Winner: Best Experimental Work, Melbourne Fringe 2022

Shortlisted: International New Media Writing Prize 2023

"Multidisciplinary artist Vidya Rajan has done it again…there are surprises at every turn. A comment on the privatisation of contemporary digital spaces – particularly as nostalgia for the “old” internet is pitted against the futurity the “new” internet promises… both a pisstake at Big Data and a lament for a more innocent time." ★★★★★ –
The Age

"Blends speculative fiction, comedy, machine-learning and performance art to create something as weird and wonderful as the place in which it exists … when we pour so much ourselves into social media platforms, what happens when those spaces are run not for people but profit? ... the timing couldn’t be better” –

In Search of Lost Scroll was available on demand from 17 - 23 October 2022 through Melbourne Fringe, and for a return season between 1 Jan - 30 March 2023.

Most elements of the work are now offline/inactive so while it won’t make complete sense, you can still chat with the bot trained on my twitter archive; access the “final space” here, or watch a play-through of the work on request.
